It’s time to get those colourful bikinis and swimming costumes out and hit the beach or the swimming pool.

But even as you’re getting all ready to lather on the sunscreen and bring out those gorgeous sunshades, there are a few things you need to do that can make your bikini moments even more beautiful and perfect than you’re planning.

1. Start Eating Right

Since you’re planning to spend time in a bikini or swim suit, cut out any inflammatory foods from your diet. Foods such as refined flour (think bread, pizza), sugar or artificial sweeteners, fried food, dairy products, processed meats, alcohol and so on can cause inflammation. Getting your salt intake to the least possible amount will also help. Instead, add more of protein, yogurt, cucumbers and almonds.

2. Start Prepping Your Skin

Whatever hair removal procedure you are planning to go for, start preparing your skin for it by exfoliating and moisturizing at home. Start to do this at least three days before you have planned for your hair removal procedure. Also, start massaging your skin while you take a bath, as this will help to boost the blood circulation and get it ready to receive the hair removal treatment, without drying it out too much. Try and get your waxing about 72 hours before you show off your bikini, as it will help the redness to go down.

3. Stay Safe With Sunscreen

Use a sunscreen which has at least a sun protection of SPF 30 or above, as this will help you stay protected against the harmful rays of the sun especially for all the time that you are outdoors. Make sure to apply the sunscreen at least 30 minutes before you head outdoors and reapply every two hours. If you want to add some sheen to your look, you can also use a bit of body oil that comes with sunscreen, or mix in a few drops of the same with your sunscreen and apply all over your body for a gorgeous sun-kissed look.

While you’re doing all of this, make sure to complete your look with a cute tote that can carry your water of bottle, your SPF and a cover-up that can help you avoid sunburn.
