Five Desi Weed Songs To Help You Get High

Weed, cannabis, hash, pot, bud, ganja, marijuana has been celebrated for more than hundreds of years disguised under different names. The weed culture in music was immensely popularized by Bob Marley who also made famous and made rampant Rastafarianism. The cannabis culture has largely encompassed various social behavioral patterns including that of cinema and music. In fact, psychedelic rock is largely based on this. Although it took some time for India to catch up, but we are definitely not far behind. Weed has been the catalyst for all kinds of great music.

1. Dum Maro Dum From Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971) And Dum Maaro Dum (2011)

This song from the movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna was sung by Asha Bhosle written by Anand Bakshi and composed by R.D Burman. It was a massive hit in the 1970s and gained immediate cult status. Zeenat Aman sways with ecstasy under the influence of hash and the song leaves a hypnotic effect long after you have stopped listening to it.

This classic ganja number has been remixed several times. It was also incorporated in the movie Dum Maaro Dum (2011) and features Deepika Padukone, looking sultry and high. The rap before the song says “100 rupaye ka dum jo loon, 200 gham ho uranchu”, which literally translates to, “if I take a puff worth Rs. 100, 200 worries will be gone”.

2. Manali Trance From The Shaukeens (2014)

This is an extremely trippy number against the backdrop of what happens to be a party in the movie The Shaukeens directed by Abhishek Sharma. The song features the incredibly sexy Lisa Haydon, along with Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor, Piyush Mishra. She is in her hottest avatar ever, dancing to the trance like music and amazing dub step along with a bunch of Sega dancers. The song was composed by Honey Singh and sung by Neha Kakkar and Lil Golu. This is bound to give you a solid punch of psychedelic music.

3. Chillam By Rossh

If you are looking for a groovy and peppy club track Chillam by Rossh is the song for you. The singer is seen smoking up in his own style and casually singing to the trance like edm beats. This is surely an ideal song to get high to. The chant “Bol Bam, Bam, Bam, Bam” reiterates the weed culture.

4. Nasha By Shakir Ali, Deat. SJN Shiva

The idea of relating spirituality to marijuana is as old as the hills. This is one such song which chronicles the influence of weed and attempts to capture the trance via it’s catchy lyrics. The song is by Lil Golu featuring Shivranjani Singh. The song preaches the rolling of joints in order to cease all your anguish and misery.
