A friend once good naturedly teased me that I was a huge show off, the reason being that I was standing at the cab stand and reading a book while waiting.
Well, I guess going by the looks of people around, I may have come across as a weird sight.
What do you do when you are bored, or waiting, or just want to kill time? For me, I read. Those who know me well know that I am never without a book. No matter where I am, I will always have at least one or two books with me, as a backup for times when I have nothing to do.

What if something had to happen and I had to extend the trip? What would I read then? Where would I get books that I like?
What if, by some magic, I finished reading the first huge book (and keep in mind that all of these are books I have not read yet, so I have a lot of reading to do). If I do finish the first book, I need a second too. And what if, by some more of that magic, I end up finishing even the second book? Then what? I definitely need a third book, right? And all this on an overnight trip.

When I am going downstairs to pick up groceries, I carry a thinner book with me. When I am waiting for my cab to arrive, I stand at the building gate and read. My building watchmen know me as the madam who walks like a mad woman at night and only reads when she is downstairs during the day, as do other people in my building.
The condition has gone on to such epic proportions that, at such dreadful times when I have not had a book with me, I have read even the labels and instructions mentioned on packages and cartons. I can’t believe I am confessing to this here!
I get it. I have some issues to work on, but they can wait. I have books to finish reading first.
