Ajay Devgn To Play Chanakya Soon

Actor Ajay Devgn who was last seen in Raid is now all set to play Chanakya. Chanakya is a historical film based on the on 4th century BC scholar, economist and advisor Chanakya.

Chanakya is said to have played a major role in establishing the Chandragupta Maurya dynasty and is considered the pioneer of the field of political science and economics in India. He is credited to have written epic books like Chanakya Niti and Arthashastra.

Ajay has earlier played another historical character as Bhagat Singh in the 2002 film titled The Legend of Bhagat Singh, which was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

Chanakya will be directed by Neeraj Pandey and Ajay seems pretty excited about his role and the film. Ajay tweeted, “Looking forward to playing Chanakya, a film about one of the greatest thinkers in Indian History.

Ajay also told the press, “I am truly looking forward to playing Chanakya. I have observed Neeraj Pandey’s work closely and I know Neeraj will tell this story with the clarity and passion that it needs to be told,”

In a statement to the press director, Neeraj said, “I have been developing this film on Chanakya for some time now. It is an exciting work of passion for me, and I am sure audiences will love Ajay’s portrayal of the visionary genius.”

Besides Chanakya, Ajay has films like Total Dhamaal, Sons of Sardaar: The Battle of Saragarhi and Luv Ranjan’s untitled film with Ranbir Kapoor coming up.

Chanakya will be produced by Reliance Entertainment. However, the rest of the cast and the release date are yet to be finalised.
