When you are born into a middle-class Telegu family, your expectations from your career is possibly quite different. Something similar happened with Shreya Dhanwanthary who left a fledging engineering career with a degree from National Institute of Technology, Warangal to opt for a modelling and acting career in 2008 by participating in the Pantaloons Femina Miss India South. Not only did the beauty go on to become the first runner up for this, she also went on to participate in Femina Miss India 2008. That sealed her career in the entertainment world and she debuted in a Telegu musical film called Sneha Geetham in 2010.
Reya, as she is fondly called, possibly got her inspiration of dancing from the land of the belly dancers as she lived in the middle east for nearly seventeen years. She is proficient in Kathak, Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam. Her stay in the land of the Arabs have also inspired her to get an Arabic tattoo on her right wrist.
She always believed in magic, being an avid reader and fan of the Harry Potter books and her life so far has been nothing short of magic. While working for Elite which is a talent agency in Delhi, she was advised by Bhumi Pednekar to try her luck in Mumbai considering she had the panache for it. She catapulted in our hearts with the commercial for Fogg deodorants which caught the eye of the nation.
Her face gained even more prominence post her portrayal of Devanshi Tailor in the 2018 web series The Reunion which paved her way into Bollywood with her debut film Why Cheat India opposite Emraan Hashmi that is being directed by Soumik Sen.
It seems that while reading is her passion, Shreya is also quite proficient in writing as she has penned her debut novel Fade To White in 2016. Quite, a bag of talent, this on! She shows the true traits of being a Sagittarius as she is quite an adrenaline junkie who loves the outdoors and is interested in trekking and parasailing.
Her favourite Bollywood celebs include Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra. No doubt she herself will soon end up in that league once her debut film is released. This is one debutante we are keeping our eyes glued to!
