Arjun Kapoor – Real Talent Or Riding On Parent’s Fame?

Deserving or undeserving, they are privileged and how!

He is eight films old, out of which 4 have been Flops, 1 below Average, 1 Hit, 2 Super Hit and 2 Semi Hit. To be fair, this is not a bad track record at all. But if we ask you to name one character that he has played and which etched in your memory, the prompt answer would definitely be – Parma. He has not given any notable character in the past 5 years, which compels us to think if Arjun Kapoor really has any good acting skills or is he just riding on Kapoor family’s fame?

We all know how nepotism plays a good chunk of a role in Bollywood. A producer’s son/daughter, an actor’s kid are by default assumed to make an entry in the film industry. But in the field such as Bollywood where talent should ideally prevail, it is proven that blood is thicker than talent.

Of course, there are actors like Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Alia Bhatt who have proven to be better Artist than their parents. However, there are few like Uday Chopra, Tusshar Kapoor, Esha Deol, Fardeen Khan, Mimoh Chakraborty who merely got into the business because of their parent’s fame sans acting skills.

Coming back to Arjun, unlike his contemporaries like Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, he has been giving mediocre performances consistently in all his films, be it – Ki and Ka, Mubarakan (a film shouldered completely by Anil Kapoor), Half Girlfriend, Tevar. However, despite the fact, he has managed to bag a YRF film, being directed by Dibaker Banerjee.

What if Arjun Kapoor was not Boney Kapoor’s son? What if he had no Bollywood connection? Would he have got the same amount of offers, looking at his work? Would a YRF or a Dharma offer him roles on regular basis?

That says something about the kind of privilege these star kids have. It’s kind of unfair to the deserving actors out there struggling their ass out, merely to get one break in Bollywood.
