A wedding in Italy, keeping all the “Desi” flavors intact

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are that you have been following the latest Bollywood wedding with as passion and anticipation. Two of the biggest superstars in B-town – Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh – got married a couple of days in a fairytale wedding at Lake Como, Italy. Even though they have maintained strict secrecy regarding their wedding pictures and cuisine, some news and images have been leaked on social media.

The wedding was planned to take place on two consecutive days – one, a traditional Konkani wedding that took place on 14th November, and a traditional Sindhi wedding that took place on 15th November. The ceremonies were observed in the presence of family, a few close friends and some very special guests from the Bollywood industry such as Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali etc.

In keeping with Deepika’s South Indian heritage, filter coffee was served to the wedding guests. According to Bollywood paparazzi Manav Manglani’s Instagram’s post, Deepika is very fond of filter coffee and it was especially flown from Bangalore to Italy for the purpose. An important part of South Indian cuisine, filter coffee is a thick and milky concoction that was served with other traditional Konkani-Mangalorean dishes such as puliogare, kosamgari, dalitoy and bibbe upkari on a banana leaf.

Deepika chose to shine out in a traditional rust colored silk saree, while Ranveer was dressed in a traditional white dhoti-kurta, both looking resplendent together. The couple celebrated their wedding in a traditional Sindhi-style wedding as well, and they finally decided to end the suspense. Ranveer Singh, as well as Deepika Padikone, posted two pictures from both the ceremonies on their social media, captioned with a heart emoji. For the Sindhi ceremony, the Villa del Balbianello was decorated with red roses and the baraatis arrived in red turbans. Deepika looked gorgeous in a traditional red lehenga while Ranveer wore a matching red and gold sherwani. All the outfits and jewelry were designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, including Deepika’s engagement ring with a princess-cut diamond as the centerpiece.

With one of the most beautiful Bollywood weddings having taken place, we offer our best wishes to the newly-married couple. Moreover, we are eager for the couple to reveal more of their wedding pictures for us to admire over and take some inspiration from.
