The teaser for debut director Shelly Chopra Dhar’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga takes us right back to a love story in 1942! It takes us back to those too good to be true visuals of the song Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga,from Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 1942 A Love Story, where the ever gorgeous Manisha Koirala looks flawless and surreal….to the beautiful locations of Ooty, where a younger looking Anil Kapoor is head over heels in love. Where being in love was beautiful and simple.
Cut to 2018, where you’re suddenly woken up from that sweet dream and a voiceover tells you; ‘what’s true love without some siyapaa!’(drama) We see an older looking Anil Kapoor dancing with glee but this time he’s not the love-struck young man we saw in 1942 A Love Story but a father who’s happily dancing with his daughter. His real-life daughter Sonam Kapoor plays his daughter, Sweety Chaudhary on screen too in Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.
This is the first time that Anil Kapoor and Sonam are acting on a film together. Anil Kapoor who seems to be on a total roll this year, told HotFridayTalks.com that this film is very special to him and all he can say at this time is that it has been a very emotional experience for him sharing screen space with Sonam “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga has been a very emotional experience for me,” said Anil. It’s also interesting to see Sonam in a completely different avatar as compared to her glamorous looks in her previous films including the recently released Veere Di Wedding.

Ace cinematographer Binod Pradhan who shot 1942 A Love Story, goes down the memory lane and tells HotFridayTalks; “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga was one of the most romantic songs that I’ve ever shot. We were also in our prime then and we were absolutely enamoured with what we were filming!”
Besides Anil and Sonam Kapoor, the film also stars Rajkummar Rao and Juhi Chawla. The film will see Juhi Chawla and Anil Kapoor reunite on screen almost after a decade. Produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga is a romantic drama. Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga is scheduled to be released on October 12.
