Several Bollywood actors are trying to promote regional movies and preserve the local culture

 

In recent times Western influence and rampant globalization has triggered off massive cultural damage. And it seems there is no escape from it. Even Bollywood songs have resorted to incorporating English lyrics. You rarely get to see mainstream actors experimenting with these small scale regional movies. It’s refreshing to see some of them taking on something very unexpected. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s debut was with Iruvar (1997), a Tamil film. Similarly Konkona Sen Sharma’s was a Bengali movie – Ek je Aachhe Kanya (2001).

Madhuri Dixit In Bucket List And Producing 15th August

After a long haul she will be seen again on the big screen in a marathi film called Bucket list. It chronicles the story of an ordinary housewife who also happens to imbibe within her a lot of other roles including that of a mother, sister and a friend. She finally breaks away from the shackles of socially imposed roles and comes to an illuminating self discovery.

Madhuri and husband Dr. Nene have also launched their own production house named RnM and she is producing a Marathi film titled 15th August.

Priyanka Chopra’s production house has been supporting several upcoming actors and have produced regional movies in Marathi, Bhojpuri as well as Punjabi. Ventilator (2016), directed by Rajesh Mapuskar and starring the renowned Ashutosh Gowariker, was produced by our PeeCee and it has been critically acclaimed and has also won three National Awards. Their website is up now and it has an application form for aspiring talents who wish to make films. In January 2018, they have also announced about their third Marathi upcoming film named Firebrand.

This movie shall be headlined by renowned actor and superstar Prabhas of the Baahubali fame. It is a trilingual science fiction movie which incorporates adequate features of a thriller. It is being shot in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu simultaneously. It is directed by Sujeeth and will be Shraddha’s debut in the south Indian movie.

Huma Qureshi In Kaala Karikaalan

Directed by Pa Ranjith, this film will feature Rajnikanth alongside the famous Gangs of Wasseypur actress Huma Qureshi. She has revealed that she feels immensely blessed to have had this opportunity to work with a renowned personality as Rajnikanth himself. The film will also feature Nana Patekar, Anjali Patil and Pankaj Tripathi. The film is all set to release on 14th of April. It’s an Indian Tamil film and we cannot wait to watch Huma and Rajnikanth in action.

Sunny Leone In Veeramadevi

Directed by VC Vadivudaiyan this is a period war drama where Sunny Leone will play the lead role. She will be seen in the character of a warrior princess who happened to reside in the South several decades ago. It is Sunny’s debut Tamil movie and is produced by Ponse Stephen. Reportedly it will also release in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. Sunny had earlier made a cameo appearance in a song from the movie Vadacurry, but this marks her debut as lead actress.

One needs to applaud these stories of actors who are joining hands in this constant endeavor of making local industries flourish.
