Here’s What Chitrangada Singh Learned As A Producer Of Soorma

Is being an actor easier than being a producer?

Actress Chitrangada Singh might have been staying away from the camera for some time now, but she was not totally away from Bollywood. She was busy donning a new hat! That of a producer. Yes, after Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Dia Mirza, Neha Dhupia etc. it’s the turn of Chitrangada Singh to play producer. Her debut film Soorma a biopic starring Diljit Dosanjh is all set to be released.

Speaking at the first trailer launch of her upcoming film, Chitrangada shared her experience as a first time producer. She said that she had never realised that being a producer is such a tough job.“ As an actor we reach set, get into the vanity van, shoot, get back to the vanity van and then go home as we pack up. The real challenge is to get to shoot before the vanity van arrives and leave after the vanity van has left! Our life as actors is way easier than that of a producer’s. It is not easy being a producer, it’s a different ballgame,” said Chitrangada

But she has no regrets and says that she got to learn a lot as a producer. She added, “ I think all of us actors should produce a film, at least one film to realise how easy our life is as compared to the life of the producers this is been a great learning and an amazing journey.”

Talking about why she chose to produce a film like Soorma, she said, “ In today’s time it is very difficult to come across a true comeback hero story. I felt we need to make Heroes of people like Sandeep Singh. Very few people can make a come back after an extremely tragic and fatal incident like what Sandeep Singh went through. I felt that the story has to be told.”

Chitrangada said that she is also happy that more women are turning producers. “It’s a good thing that more and more women are getting into becoming producers but what is more important is to bring out more and more good stories like these that will encourage people and will also bring out the real heroes. To all women producers I’d say more power to women it’s a great field and we should make it strong!” added Chitrangada.
