If you’ve been following the latest Bollywood news, you’ll know that after the “Batti Gul Meter Chalu” fame, Yami Gautam will be next seen in Aditya Dhar’s action military- drama movie “Uri: The Surgical Strike”. The movie stars Gautam herself along with Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Kirti Kulhari and Mohit Raina. The movie is based on the Indian army’s surgical strikes near Uri, Kashmir, and the trailer has attracted attention because of Yami Gautam’s polished new look.
Gautam will be playing the grave role of an Intelligence officer for which she had to undergo mixed martial arts training to perfect the role. The director had wanted Yami to go for a fuss-free look as required by the character and has given her a smart and sophisticated image that sits well with her tough character. In one of the pictures that has surfaced, Yami looks professional and stern with her short hair and is dressed in a blue shirt and blazer for that killer look. She says that her short hair adds realism and authenticity to her character, which was very important as it was based on a real-life situation. As mentioned, the movie is based on the Indian army’s surgical on Pakistan in return for the Uri attacks in 2016. Gautam’s character will help in planning and executing the entire operation and she is excited about it as she has never played the role of an army officer before.
Yami Gautam will be sharing screen space with Vicky Kaushal, who has given us amazing movies like “Masaan” and “Raazi” and Kaushal will play the role of Major Vihaan Shergill. As reports suggest, she has said that the entire shooting was quite exhausting because of the intensity and effort needed for the character but she enjoyed it. On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal had to undergo a strict regime of military training, weight gaining and stamina improvement as well. In an interview, Kaushal has mentioned that “Uri” is perhaps one of his most physically challenging movies. Much of the movie was shot in Serbia that included the recreation of the LOC, the Indo-Pak border, military posts and terrorist camps with the final scenes in Mumbai.
“Uri: The Surgical Strike” could be the next most-awaited movie next year due to its war, action and suspense elements. The movie will be released on 11 January 2019, and we can’t wait.
