The Other Side Of The Mad Golmaal Boys

There’s a lot that everyone can learn from them in life!

What do Arshad Warsi, Kunal Khemu, and Tusshar Kapoor all have in common besides the Golmaal series? Well, all three of them started off in the industry as lead roles in the respective films they did, but over the years that has changed and they have either been cast in multi starrers with bigger stars or been in films where there are two heroes. While most actors would have probably taken that negatively, these three are the most optimistic actors I’ve come across. It’s been an eye – opener speaking to them and in fact, I came back learning how to look at the brighter side of life after my conversations with the three of them. Read on to know more.

Arshad Warsi

Popularly known as Circuit because of his performance in the Munna Bhai series, Arshad Warsi is unlike the Circuit everyone knows. While speaking to him we realized that he is one actor who is completely content and also happy and secure with the way he is or the kind of roles he is doing. He has no qualms about playing the hero’s sidekick or being a part of an ensemble cast.

“I am fortunate that I don’t have an ego and I don’t have greed. These are the few negative things that kill people.I am absolutely fine when we have these big actors doing their job, it is great. One should be very practical in life because I know that when I do a film, it pulls only a certain number of the audience but when I do a film with Ajay Devgn or Sanjay Dutt, there are more people who come to watch the film. So that’s a great thing!” says Arshad.

This funny man might have made us roll on the floor with laughter but his all-time favorite role is the one he played as Babban in Ishqiya.

Kunal Khemu

Kunal who just turned dad with the birth of his baby daughter, Inaaya is so unlike the character we just saw in his latest film, Golmaal Again. He spoke his heart out exclusively to HFT and gave us a totally different perspective on his personality.

Speaking about the way his career has been going he says, “I have a couple of films which have not got a proper window or not seen the light of day or not done well at the box office. There are times when I have not had a release for two years etc. But some of these films have been really close to my heart even though they’ve had a bad run. Also, thank god! there is television and satellite so that people get a chance to see some of my films even if they didn’t make it to the theaters.”

He says that though there are things that he wants to go back in the past and change, this industry has its ups and downs. He also feels that maybe he could have been guided better, done better or he could have sought better guidance, but he says that he is thankful that he still has people who want him in their films.” I have also discovered things that I can do. Whatever I learn I am going to bring to my future experiences,” adds Kunal.

He says that he does not think about the negative things as there’s not much one can do about it, the only thing that will happen is that you start losing that positivity, so the best thing to do is find new things to do and look within and say “ What can I do now? What can I do better?”

Tusshar Kapoor

He came into the industry with the hit Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai as the main lead but after that, there were very few films where he lived up to the solo male lead. Tusshar is very honest while talking about it and says, “I don’t know what happened after that. But maybe I did make some mistakes, I might not have lived up to the performance I did in Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai. People probably thought that I was not as intense or I acted as well. Sometimes things just don’t work out no matter how hard you work. I can’t analyze what went wrong but I am positive that things will work and I can still play a young and fresh character maybe not a 22-year-old college boy but there are roles for everyone today.”

He admits that some of his films were bad while he says he doesn’t understand why some of the ones he thought were good didn’t work but he is happy and says, “ It’s ok, Golmaal has given me what so many of my films haven’t and I will never give up. Along with the multi starrers I do, I will continue to grab other interesting offers too. Hopefully, I am able to do what I did in Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai.Having said that, it’s all a matter of luck.”

We sure believe in luck too. Here’s wishing all three of them more success and luck!
