This Is Why We Love Rajkummar Rao

Happy Birthday! Rajkummar Rao

Rajkummar Rao’s Stree opened to rave reviews today, which also happens to be his birthday. Rajkummar says that this is the best birthday gift ever. In a conversation with HotFridayTalks at the special preview of the film which also happened to be the eve of his birthday, Rajkummar said that all this love and appreciation is what keeps inspiring to do better. “This positivity from all of you is the best birthday gift one can get,” he said.

From his debut in an experimental film; Love Sex Aur Dhoka to the most recent Stree, Rajkummar has come a long way. But the journey hasn’t been an easy one, however, Rajkummar has stood firm and succeeded and also kind of paved a way for unconventional actors in Bollywood. In an earlier interview, he said, “I am from the FTI and we all come here to this city to become actors and I feel blessed that all this has happened to me.”

Things have happened because he has worked hard for it. He is one actor who tries his hand at everything, and that’s not all he can slip under the skin of any character he plays from the simple boy next door to that of a gangster or monster or even a historical character. He also takes his characters very seriously and will go to any lengths to get the look and feel right. For some of his films like Bose, he has gone from being fit to shedding extra kilos and later putting on almost 12 kilos!  He even started smoking for one role he had to play in a film!

He is an acting powerhouse and has been the one to get unconventional roles and characters to the forefront. He is known for all the unconventional roles he plays; roles that are relatable, are not really over the top heroic yet all the characters he has portrayed so far are likable and make an impact. He’s given us some brilliant performances in movies like Love Sex Aur Dhoka, Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2, Talaash, Kai Po Che, Queen, CityLights, Aligarh, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Newton, Trapped, Stree etc.

Of course, like anyone of us, he enjoys all the attention and is happy with the stardom he has achieved but that is not all that he wants to achieve.”I didn’t come here to change myself, I came here to do good work. I think as an actor it’s my duty to bring in something new to my characters to offer something new to my audience as well,” says the dedicated actor.

And something new, different and exciting is what he has always given his fans and audience. Keep shining brighter! Team HotFridayTalks wishes you a very Happy Birthday!
