When it comes to giving her all to her portrayals of characters in movies, Vidya Balan has never shied away from stepping out of her comfort zone and trying things she has never done before. Whether it be putting on weight for Dirty Picture or taking up non-glamorous garbs for Bobby Jasoos, she is known for going to challenging extents to perfect her character sketch. This time, she has taken up the task of learning a musical instrument right from scratch. Musician Nitin Shankar, who has worked with big names like RD Burman, Jatin-Lalit and Anu Malik, is her teacher and mentor in this new endeavor. A video is doing the rounds on social media of her learning to play harmonium, where the tutor was all praises for his dedicated and humble student and rightfully so as in the video it can be clearly seen how much effort she has put into learning the instrument as she can play the basic tunes and patterns quite effortlessly on the harmonium.

The actress is about to begin her shooting for the NTR biopic pretty soon and will be reportedly playing the role of NTR’s wife Basavatarakam. Hence it is being speculated that this new skill-learning is perhaps for this very movie. But it could very well be for another future project. Whatever be the reason, Vidya apparently spent a lot of time learning the basics as well as some finer nuances of the instrument and rumor has it that it took her only six days to pick up the basics of the musical instrument.

This NTR biopic will mark Vidya’s debut in the Telegu film industry. Apart from her, the movie also boasts the cast of Tollywood star Rana Daggubati portraying the character of NTR’s son-in-law N Chandra Babu Naidu and Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta, playing the role of LV Prasad , an ace filmmaker as well as a Dadasaheb Phalke awardee, who launched NTR’s career as a screen actor in 1949 with Mana Desam.
