Born in Silchar, Assam, Novoneel had been hugely inspired by his grandfather, and the profession of a closet playwright of the latter influenced Novoneel to a great extent. His first published novel “A thing beyond forever” (September 2008) was an instant favorite with his readers and that inspired him to write back-to-back novels which were best-sellers. Among his other novels, “The Stranger Trilogy” demands special mention. He has also written scripts for popular TV shows and series like “Savdhaan India” (Life OK), “Million Dollar Girl”, “Secret Diaries” and more.

When asked about the future of poetry in this age, Novoneel believes that people still love and are very much interested in Poetry, but is not willing to spend on this form of entertainment like they do on other forms. “On one hand there are people who are consuming poetry and are interested in it when it comes to them for free via digital posting on social media, but there is a thought that a poetry book isn’t worth one’s money per say. Until that thought is eradicated the real golden time of poetry in India won’t happen” says Chakraborty whose recently released novel is “Cheaters” (February 2018).

Novoneel believes that poetry is not always meant for everyone to understand. While every poem might have an apparent meaning, each one also has a symbolic and deeper inner meaning to it, which strikes only to the “evolved minds”.
