Directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Ayushmann Khurrana as a police officer, Article 15 is a movie based around the Article 15 of the constitution. Article 15 is one of the most important parts of the constitution, a part that actually defines India. But do you really know what the Article 15 stands for? Before we try to understand that, let us take a look at the trailer!
The teaser gives the chills but you will never understand the depth of it without knowing what Article 15 really is. So here we go-
In the most direct language, Article 15 of the constitution has been laid down to Prohibit discrimination on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth. As per the article,
Article 15(1) The State shall not discriminate against any citizen on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, and place of birth or any of them.
Article 15(2) No citizen shall, on grounds only of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them, be subject to any disability, liability, restriction or condition.
There are three more subsections of the Article 15 which we will discuss below.

To put it in fewer words, Article 15 is our right to equality. While the first two sections of the Article ensure that no person in India can be denied the use of or access to public facilities, the other three sections empowers the state to make special provisions in terms of protection, reservations, and other arrangements to those who need it.
The Article 15(3) empowers the state to make special provisions for protecting the interests of women and children. The Article 15(4) empowers the state to make special provisions for advancement/welfare of socially and educationally backward classes like SC/STs. The Article 15(5) empowers the state to make reservations in admission to educational institutions including private educational institutions, whether aided or unaided by the state.

A lot has been said and debated regarding the section 5 of the Article. But in essence, Article 15 is the soul of Indian Preamble that clearly states- India is a secular country with equal status and opportunities for all its citizens.
