Guess Who Will Write A Best Seller Novel In 2050?

Experts predict that Artificial Intelligence will be able to write New York Bestseller by 2050

This is the age of the 4th Industrial Revolution. Artificial Intelligence is making inroads in every walk of life. From monitoring your health to managing your finance, now you can talk to a chatbot to get all your work done for you.

But will there be a time when AI will overtake humans?

Right now AI is learning human behaviour to predict consumer patterns. from movies streamed on Netflix, music listened to on Spotify or products purchased on Amazon, AI recommends content tailored to a specific user.

AI is also generating its own content with little or no human supervision. The Associated Press has used AI to free up around 20% of reporters’ time while increasing output tenfold. The Washington Post developed a tool to cover sports and political news, producing about 70 articles a month in its first year.

Recently humanoid Sophia became the first robot to be granted citizenship in Hong Kong. Powered by AI, she stole the show at the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) this year. With her witty replies, she is a reminder that AI is getting closer to humanity than ever before.

AI has started to prove itself in multiple creative domains. Recently, AI has authored a poem that was accepted by a literary journal without the judges knowing it was written by a machine.

Already people have started using algorithms to write novels. At the National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, an annual event that encourages people to churn out a 50,000-word book on deadline in US, some authors designed algorithms that wrote their novels.

With such advances in the initial years, experts predict great work from AI in the future. According to a survey of over 350 AI experts, AI will be able to write a school essay by 2026.

From there it would be short leap for AI to write a novel. In just over 30 years from now, AI is expected to write a novel or short story that will make it to the New York Times best-seller list.

It would be in our lifetimes, that we might actually read novels written by AI. That might be tough competition for human writers.
