There are some celebrities like Ritesh Deshmukh and Salman Khan who have been bringing the Ganapati home since years. It’s been a family tradition for both of them. Ritesh who is in the USA wanted to carry on this age old tradition and there was no stopping him. Speaking to HFT he said that he made the entire idol eco friendly Ganesha from scratch. The idol is not only a beautiful one but also creative with a small planter attached to the back. We didn’t know Ritesh possessed such hidden talents did we? On being told the same Ritesh sent back a smiley with us a Thank You! note being the wonderful human he is, he has dedicated the Ganesha idol to our farmers. He also gave credits to his significant other, Genelia.

Interestingly, many of the Bollywood Celebrities like Salman Khan, Shonali Bendre, and Sonu Sood etc. brought home the red coloured Ganesha this year. As per some of the people dealing in Ganesha idols, the demand for the red coloured Ganesha was high this year. Which makes us wonder what is the significance of the red coloured Ganesha? Accordingly to Ruby Ahuja, an entrepreneur, who is believes in the powers of the pot bellied Lord, and who also brought the red Ganesha home this year, the red Ganesha is said to attract people towards your work and also because Ganesha is said to have loved the red colour so the colour is associated with him. He also loves being worshipped with red flowers.” So why not red?” says Ruby.

Did you know that like the red Ganesha, the other colours of the Ganesha idol also have significance. The brown Ganesha is normally worshipped to cast away any evils, like evil spirits if you are being haunted. Dark coloured Ganeshas are usually worshipped or meditated upon when one wants to get rid of any kind of negativity or hatred. The turmeric or saffron colour Ganesha is worshipped when one wants protection from any kind of harm.

While these could be myths or beliefs what we do know is no matter what colour, Ganpati Bappa is one of the most celebrated gods and am sure he protects and listens to all our prayers.
