Here’s How You Can Let Your Inner Hichki Be Your Strength

It’s weird how we are focusing more on the how rather than the what

Did you see the newly released trailer of the movie Hichki? If you haven’t seen it yet, check the link.

In the movie,RaniMukherji plays a teacher who has to handle a class of unruly students from the lower income group who are enrolled in a so-called elite school. What comes in her way? A stammering problem, also known as Tourette’s Syndrome.

In an earlier statement, Rani had spoken of how everyone has a weakness that could pull them back, a medical condition or any problem that is more like a hiccup (hichki) in their personal growth and how overcoming it can make us a winner.

There are many issues that are being shown in the movie, from how you can overcome your hichki(or personal issues) and come out a winner, to how the right opportunity can erase all social gaps and bring out winners. Sadly, the messages are being overshadowed completely, with the main focus being on how this is her comeback movie and how glamorous she looks in the promo shots (of course she does, but she is more than just a pretty face too and I’m sure this is a movie worth a watch).

Did you know our very own Indian Greek god overcame a stuttering problem?

When Pranav’s accent was talked about rather than the cutting edge innovations he was presenting

It’s weird how we are focusing more on the ‘how’ rather than the ‘what’ and completely ignoring the message being delivered. And you know what – ‘ye achchhibaatnahihai’ – remember the crazy amount of memes on Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s standard line? 😉

no offence to any poojas!!

It brings to mind a speech some years back by Pranav Mistry at the Samsung launch event, when trolls ridiculed him and Samsung for his ‘accented’ speech, feeling it showcased India and Indians in poor light and something that the world should not judge Indians by.

Dear world, do not judge the average Indian based on Pranav Mistry’s accent. Please. #iaf2013 #galaxygear

By the way, he also happens to be an inventor who heads the Think Tank team at Samsung and is the current Global Vice President of Samsung. And oh yes, even as the ‘posh’ ones were laughing at his accent, he laughed his way to the bank – now thatcould put a hichkito your day, no?

All this is something like a pot of chai I had this weekend. Well, I love the regular tapriki chai, that barely costs 10 bucks and is to my delicious taste (no, don’t even talk about my wallet as long as you can promise to convince Mr. Sree to give me a humungous hike) but when I was at a five star this weekend for some work, I ended up spending 350 bucks on that same cup! See? A case of how the same thing, said or done in a different way or setting makes all the difference.

And if you feel none of this makes any sense, it’s time for your cuppa. Go drink!
