It must have been a regular day for the rebel child Malala. She had been fighting for girls to attend school. And she suddenly found a voice for her protest through a tragedy. It’s an irony that the terrorists wanted her to shut up, and they ended up giving her the biggest platform for her cause.
In 2012, she was shot by Pakistani Taliban while returning from school in a van. She went on to win the Nobel Peace Prize. She has become a modern icon for freedom for girls in the less developed countries. She has become the voice of hope for many suppressed noises.
And yet, today, she is being trolled for wearing jeans and heeled boots. One wonders whether heroism always has to come with a costume. It’s like trolling batman if he saves Gotham without a mask and cape.
Why can’t the 20 year old Malala wear what she chooses like other kids. She is presently studying politics, philosophy and economics at the Oxford University. While some posted harshly against her calling her a Western agent against Pakistan, some came out in her support.
Malala wearing jeans and a shirt in Oxford has started another debate. Pious pakistanis were expecting burqah from her.

Beyond the cause she supports, Malala is just another young girl. Criticising her for her personal choices is just ruining the cause she supports. It is also highly hypocritical to expect a moral high ground from her just because she carries the extra burden of her fight.
