Being born and brought up in the same town does have its advantages, most of us know that. The familiarity, friends & family, the social life and what not! It’s “home” after all, isn’t it? However, think of it in this way- the world is a huge platter, and yet you haven’t tried anything other than the one dish readily served to you.

Hear us out on this one. There is a world outside of your hometown waiting to be explored. Of course it’s frightening, but it is the fear of the unknown. In most cases, the step of moving out is more often than not “held back” by the anxiety of change. We have all been there. Let us walk you through it.

Planning is the key

Your reasons for moving out could vary from your education or career to starting a new life to just seeing the world. But if you’re someone who is genuinely contemplating moving out, then start mapping out your plan today. It includes listing down accommodation options, possible expenses, switching of jobs and duration of stay for starters. If you’ve never lived away from home, don’t worry about it. Everybody has to experience their share of ‘first time’. And when you do, you learn to live by your own, you learn to depend on nobody for nothing and most importantly you learn to be more mindful of your responsibilities.

In all honesty, not living with your family somehow brings you even closer to them. The thought “distance makes the heart grow fonder” seems to make sense then. Living on your own, not only brings a change in your personality but also encourages you to inevitably discover yourself. New stories, new experiences, and new people. A change of address brings a whole lot of novelty in your life. Keep an open mind and let it all in.

Moving out of the place you’ve lived in forever is a big step but you don’t have to take a leap. Take it step by step. One day at a time. Focus on the tasks to begin with, and before you even realize you’ll fall right into the rhythm. Eventually, you’ll get to a stage where you look back and give yourself a pat on your back for deciding to get out there, challenge yourself, and learn to live.

And then, before you get comfortable enough, you will be facing the ethereal struggle called “Adulting”, but that’s a battle for another day. One step at a time, right?
