Meet Noor Jahan – The Female Ola Auto Driver From Bangalore

Apart from being an OLA auto driver, Noor Jahan also runs a driving school

Perhaps the only regret in Noor Jahan’s life if that she does not have enough time to spend with her kids. Noor Jahan is a 34 year old resident of Bangalore, who drives the OLA auto. Apart from being a good and responsible driver, she is also technologically sound enough to operate the app and accept or deny ride bookings and all the other procedures related to it. Here’s what Noor Jahan shares with HotFridayTalks.com about her life as an auto driver.

“It has been more than 10 months for me as an OLA auto driver and I have been driving around Bangalore for 16 years now” says Noor Jahan. “Before this, I have worked for a private cab company, where I was a driver on hire.” she says.

Noor Jahan believes that a woman is not weaker than a man in any form and is rather stronger. She has thus set up a driving school for ladies to help them earn a living on their own abilities. “I have my own driving school for ladies near my home in Mysore road, and we teach girls to drive all types of vehicles starting from bikes to mini-bus.”

She is the mother of 4 children, two daughters and two sons. On being asked, how she manages her home as well her job along with her driving school, she says, “I don’t really get time for my children. Some days I don’t even have time for lunch. My duty hours start at 5 AM in the morning and sometimes ends after 10 PM.”

“I am glad that all my children are studying because they can’t succeed in life without education. I have to struggle hard because, if I can earn good, they can study well. My daughter is in the first year of her college. My eldest son is in class 10, younger son is in class 7 and my youngest daughter is in class 5” said the proud mother with a smile on her face.

She has had many disturbing experiences when she had to drive late at night. But she has been strong enough to overcome all the difficulties and has thus made the switch from her previous company, for security reasons.

“I don’t feel any different for being a woman driver when I am at road. My fellow auto drivers have also been supportive and friendly to me and I am thankful to God for giving me this strength” says the brave Noor Jahan.

India surely needs more such Noor Jahans, who is not only brave and strong, but is also a role model to her students at her driving school.
