Well, if you are thinking this is about a new app for pets, you are mistaken! We are talking about Instagram itself, but with a twist. Gone are the days when Instagram was just a digital photo album for you to post your weekend party pictures where every one of your friends looks horrible and then makes sure to tag them. Now it is all about the aesthetics. Instagram is the place where to say it in gen z lingo, you flex your picture-perfect lifestyle. But while us humans are busy cropping our messy rooms and fussy lives out of our pictures to get that perfect ‘gram and gain a few followers, guess who is leaving us petty creatures behind in the Instagram game? None other than our beloved pet animals. That’s right. Petstagram might be a made-up word but the popularity of Instagram accounts dedicated to pictures of pet animals is very real.

They told me I could be anything so I became a pineapple ????

One of the top favorite Petfluencers on Instagram is a cute hedgehog named Mr. Pokee. The bio reads “the world’s cutest adventurer” and the 744k followers of the account seem to agree. If you happen to stumble upon this account, not only you would feel aesthetically inferior to Mr. Pokee’s adventure clicks, but you will also feel physically weakened by how cute he is. Sometimes Mr. Pokee is seen posing among flowers, sometimes inside a teacup and sometimes the master of disguise poses as a pineapple because well, as in his own words (or caption), “They told me I could be anything so I became a pineapple” and you must admit, the resemblance is uncanny. Oh and also, Mr.Pokee makes almost £3k for every Instagram post. But all this money and fame has failed to change Mr.Pokee, as according to his owner Talitha Girnus, till today all it takes to make him happy is a mealworm treat. Now that is true humility.

But if you think Mr.Pokee is one of a kind of an Instagram account then you are wrong (and are missing out on a ton of goodness on the platform). If you look up some of the other pet accounts, you would realize it is not only a hedgehog who is living a better life than you, with a face cuter than you could wish for but the whole animal kingdom that seems to be on the same track. Among the most popular ones we have Pumpkin, The Raccoon (@pumpkintheraccoon), who is a Bahamian rescue, and has a whopping 1.5 million followers on their profile.

We also have Juniper & Fig (@juniperfoxx) with 2 million followers. All these pets are seen either eating or napping or being their cute selves while going about their everyday lives in the pictures.

Imagine being so cute 24/7 that people pay you to post pictures! Kylie Jenner, you got serious competition here!
