Have you ever gone on a date only to realise that Tinder profiles can lie? Thought you are going to meet someone like Ranveer Singh, and found someone like Rajpal Yadav waiting at the bar for you? Finding a mate has really become a tricky business. And a matchmaking forum in Chandigarh is learning this the hard way.

A 27-year-old girl filed a suit against the portal after it failed to find the right eligible mate for her. She paid almost Rs. 60,000 to become a ‘royal’ member for 12 months, which would ensure her a choicest groom. She had received around 21 profiles of the partners on her account. But after many meetings and conferences, around the country, nothing suited her taste. None were eligible to meet her requirements of a perfect match.

Whoever thought that love is blind will be turning in their graves. This girl has proved that love comes with the highest expectations, and you can definitely put a price on a broken heart.

Even our movies have highlighted how difficult it is to find the perfect match

A consumer forum has asked the matrimonial website to pay her back the initial amount with additional compensation for litigation costs. The consumer forum stated that merely providing leads to the girl was not enough if the prospective groom did not meet her requirements.

The matrimonial website tried to defend itself by saying that the girl herself had started rejecting proposals. But the consumer forum took the decision in her favour, suggesting that merely attaching details of various phone call recordings between the complainant and the firm did not mean that the demands of its client had been fulfilled.

Amidst all the talks of objectification of females, one wonders how men would require to this plain commodification of their marriage proposals. Both genders want a complete package, someone with enough ‘marriage material’, before they decide to select the right one. And this seems a risky business. The Chandigarh matrimonial forum must have learnt a lesson for burning their fingers with a girl who is furthest in Darwin’s evolutions and will not settle for less.
