‘Low emission firecrackers’, have you ever come across this term? If not, Mumbai and Thane people would listen to them soon. The dealers in the heart of Mumbai are planning to sell low emission firecrackers after the ban of fireworks from the Supreme Court of India.

Along with low emission, green fireworks are also being welcomed by the Supreme Court for Diwali. The main theme of this Diwali is to transform those few days with vibrant and colorful fireworks. The noise frequency has also been decided by the District Fireworks Dealers’ Welfare Association of Mumbai and Thane to be exact or less than 125 decibels. The aim is to reduce noise pollution, and we support this decision.

Though the dealers are complaining about the fact that the order was issued much later, none of them refused to comply. Indeed, it’s such a great step initiated by the Supreme Court to emit noise pollution. The police, however, have a great role to play in stopping people who would refuse to comply to the said timings or rules. But, the more we think about it, the more happening this news sounds.

As a matter of fact, the animals living around us, who otherwise cannot roam around freely during Diwali due to the incessantly noisy firecrackers could enjoy Diwali without being scared. Also, the bursting of the crackers has been restricted to a 2-hour span from 8 pm to 10 pm by the Supreme Court, so that people who do not quite appreciate crackers could alarm themselves during that period.

“Mere tumhaare, sab ke liye, Happy Diwali”, is finally happening. People can celebrate Diwali as freely as they want to without being turned off by the extra noise of crackers or being hurt and injured by the same. Though appeals from all over the world were made previously for the same once, this time, Article 19, that is ‘Freedom of Speech and Expression’ of the Constitution, has also been kept in mind while formulating this decision.

NGOs and Human Rights Activists are also hugely taking part in this amazing initiative. We shall have the entirety of India making changes this Diwali to suit one another and truly participate in Diwali by being safer and braver.
