A sumptuous, well-spiced and perfectly cooked kebab is a non-vegetarian’s heaven! Kebabs are among the most loved Indian dishes, and are getting more and more popular day by day. We all know the usual galouti kebab, tandoori chicken or the seekh kebab. But have you tried these lesser known but super delicious kebabs?

Sutli Kebab

This kebab has an interesting name, doesn’t it? It is popular in Bangladesh. The Sutli kebab is very soft, and it so succulent and juicy that the mince has to be bound by a thread. A paste of meat and spices is wrapped around a metal sheekh, and it is tied with a cotton thread, and then it is heated in a barbeque pit. The thread holds the delicate mixture. It is removed after the kebab is cooked. Then this delicious kebab is enjoyed with some soft roti. The spicy kebab tastes absolutely sumptuous with the soft roti.

Chapli kebab, or the Peshawari kebab, is a kebab from Pakistan. It originated from the Afghanistan-Pakistan area. But it is popular in the Northern part of India also. It is made with either mutton or beef. The spices are mixed with the mince and then shaped like tikkis. It is eaten with paratha, naan, bun or even rice.

A softer version of the seekh kebab, this kebab is softened using raw mangoes. It was invented in colonial times. It is a recent invention, but it has grown immensely popular. It is cooked on skewers. It is eaten mostly in Lucknow and Delhi. The name ‘kakori’ is derived from the area Kakori, on the outskirts of Lucknow. They melt in your mouth!

Patili Kebab

The Patili kebab is a popular kebab in Uttar Pradesh. It is served as a whole mass, and made with mince, spices and ghee. The mince is cooked on a slow fire, and the lovely desi ghee infuses it with a delicate aroma. It is popular from many centuries in the Awadh.

These kebabs are just great to try. They aren’t very well-known, but they definitely deserve a shot!
