All You Need to Know About Kumari Asava

Kumari Asava is a poly-herbal liquid preparation that belongs to the Asava-Arishta category. This formulation contains 5-10% self-generated alcohol in it. This self generated alcohol and the water present in the product acts as a medium to deliver water and alcohol soluble active herbal components to the body.

Kumari Rasa – Aloe vera juice extract – 12.288 liters
A combination of other herbal ingredients which are stored in an earthen pot and the process of fermentation occurs which leads to the generation of alcohol naturally.

Effect on Doshas: According to the principles of Ayurveda, this formulation is said to balance the disturbed Vata in the body.

Dosage: 15-30 ml once or twice a day usually advised after meals. For dilution, it can be mixed with equal quantity of hot water.

Kumari Asava is commonly advised in liver disorders as it regulates the flow of bile, in digestive problems like constipation. Since this is a very effective liver cleanser, it is used in jaundice, spleen disorders and splenomegaly. It is extremely effective in abdominal distention and respiratory conditions.

Kumari Asava is known to improve strength, skin complexion and digestive power. If used for a longer period, it can help in weight gain and as an aphrodisiac. It is also advised in urinary tract disorders and urinary calculi.
It is useful in the treatment of female infertility, anemia and hyperacidity.

In poor appetite and anorexia nervosa, it should be started in dosage of 5 ml in children and 10 ml in adults twice daily and the dosage can be increased gradually to 10 ml in children and 20 ml in adults twice daily over the period of 2 to 4 weeks.

This medicine helps flush out the ama dosha (toxins) out of the body, hence acts as a detoxifier. So, in conditions where there is accumulation of ama in the body, this medicine shows good promise.
