Here’s why you should not wear a bra while sleeping

Removing your bra while sleeping actually has more health benefits than you may have heard of.

Ladies, if you feel the urge to get your bra off and sleep comfortably at night, but worry it could make your assets sag, there’s some good news in store!

While most of us have heard that sleeping in a bra will make your beauties tighter and more ‘in shape,’ the truth is, this is just a myth! Yayyy….

And yes, removing your bra while sleeping actually has more health benefits than you may have heard of.

4 reasons you should NOT sleep in a bra

Improved blood circulation –

Sleeping in a bra, especially the underwired types, can grossly affect blood circulation. Since a bra is always well-fitted, sleeping in it can restrict blood flow around your shoulders and arms as well as the breast area. If the bra is too tight, it can harm your breast tissues over time.

Sleep difficulties –

Sleeping in a tight bra affects your blood circulation and this can prevent you from sleeping soundly. You may not realize it, but this discomfort can actually interfere with your sleep, making you wake up or feel restless at night.

Skin irritation –

As you sleep, the straps and hooks of the bra can dig into your skin and the added pressure of your body can lead to skin irritation. If this happens for a prolonged period of time it could lead to skin eruptions.

Fungal infection –

In hot and humid weathers, wearing a bra at night can make you sweat and this makes it easier for various fungal and bacterial infections to set in. Most of the times, we end up wearing bras that are actually at least a size too small for us, and this creates even more chances for the bacteria and fungi to set in.

How to buy the right size bra

  1. Wear the bra on the loosest clasp. As your bra will stretch over time, you can gradually move to the tighter ones.
  2. Your bra should not move if you lift your arms.
  3. The middle area of the bra should not poke out and should lie flat on your chest.
  4. The cups should be even and not wrinkled.
