Even as we are talking about trying to implement a healthy lifestyle in our daily lives, there’s a small town in Spain that has collectively come together to take up obesity as a challenge, and fight it.

Naron is a small town that is nestled in a remote part of northwestern Spain and has a population of only about 40,000 people. But out of all its inhabitants, a total of about 9,000 people have been identified as obese and another 3,000 are overweight.

And now, to fight this unhealthy menace, the residents of the town have set themselves a health challenge – that collectively, they will shed at least 1 lakh kilos by early 2020.

The program that was started off by Doctor Carlos Pineiro is already being supported by the town authorities as well as the locals.

Being a town that loves its food and prides itself on its gastronomic delights, which is often mainly bacon as well as fried calamari, as well as huge eating portions, the residents are now cutting out unhealthy food and trying out healthier options.

Restaurants have introduced healthy and tasty new food options in their menu that incorporates a lot of seafood. Seafood is a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids which are mainly considered to be very good for the overall cardiovascular health. It is also loaded with various important nutrients such as minerals, vitamins, protein and more.

Innovative Ways To Incorporate Exercise In Daily Life

People are now participating in more outdoor activities and trying to spend time walking or doing other exercises or sports that will help them burn off calories and get some exercise. In addition, schools in the area have come up with interesting options for students to start getting exercise early on in life. They now have the option of taking part in some sport at least for an hour each day, or ride a stationary exercise bike in the school while studying, as part of a program that has been named ‘I pedal while reading.’

Incorporating changes in a small way could be the big start here that can make all the difference in weight loss and a healthier life!
