Zaira Wasim, the Dangal fame actress, is all set for her 2nd outing in Bollywood with Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar. Written and directed by Advait Chandan, Secret Superstar chronicles the story of a child who aspires to be a singer, keeping her family background in prime focus.
In a recent interview Chandan, while speaking about the film, said the film is “extremely personal” and draws a lot from his life.
“A lot of girls today face that problem way more than the guys, where you’re not allowed to dream. A lot of people aren’t allowed. It’s also about this relationship between a mother and a daughter. That’s where I feel it’s really personal,” he says.
“Somewhere it has got moments which my mother and I have shared, a line which she may have told me. The film in its totality isn’t about my mother, but it has got shades of my life. It’s extremely personal,” he says.
The promos and the music of the film have already made noise. However, if they weren’t enough, HFT will give you 3 good reasons for you to watch this film in theatres.
1. Aamir Khan is back in STYLE
Aamir Khan’s last cool character was 3 Idiots, which had released in 2009. Post that, we only saw him in serious roles like Dhobi Ghaat, Talaash, Dhoom 3, Dangal or in the alien avatar as PK. Yes, PK was kind of a little sweet and entertaining character, however, this one from Secret Superstar has altogether a different flavour.

2. Zaira Wasim – Wrestler to Singer
She impressed everyone as she played little Geeta Phogat & her journey from dealing with the ‘Haanikarak Baapu’ to becoming the ‘dhaakad’ girl. She even bagged a National Award for her brilliant acting debut. And now, we are really kicked about seeing Zaira Wasim play a singer in the film. In the first promo itself, she has given an assurance of sorts that she is totally going to own the film with her emotionally rich performance.

3. Power Packed Dialogues
The acting is not the only thing in the film that one has to look forward to, because it promises a storyline which we can learn from and take something home.
Secret Superstar revolves around a Muslim girl who wants to make it big in the music industry. A mother will be a mother, dreaming big things for her children and it doesn’t matter from which background she comes. She will always hope for good things for her kids. Although her mother supports her passion for music, her father is strictly against it.
“Secret Superstar” is scheduled to release on October 19. We are sure we have by now convinced you enough to watch this film in theatres.
