Alt Balaji’s HOME Trailer: Sure To Resonate With Every Middle-Class Indian

Ekta Kapoor says one of the bravest things she has done is making this series

A story, inspired by true events about a middle-class family, whose world comes crashing down when they receive a house eviction notice. That’s

exactly how one can sum up the storyline of the new web series Home by Ekta Kapoor’s Alt Balaji.

But the trailer of the web series shows us the different shades in the life of a typical middle-class family living in Mumbai where more than half of the middle-class population’s only mission in life is to own a house of their own. They work day and night to see this dream come true. The trailer gives us bittersweet glimpses of a happy family living in a very cordial housing society called Kalakruti Society.

Speaking about why she chose a subject like this, Ekta said, “We Indians spend our lifetime’s savings in buying a house. One day when we were driving through a certain area in Mumbai, I saw one such building and my father told me the story behind that housing society and I was taken aback. I felt that I had to bring the story across. People tell me that this is the bravest thing I have done by making a show like this which does not have anything edgy or shocking that I am known for.”

The director of the series Habib Faisal, who presented the story of a middle-class family with his debut film Do Dooni Chaar is the first director to present a story on the digital platform of a middle-class family inspired from real incidents.

Veteran actor Parikshit Sahani is the senior most actors playing an important role to play in the series says,”This show is based on absolute realism. I had no idea about web series etc. this medium is completely new to me and I would say it’s not an actor’s medium like theater but Habib has done a great job.”

‘HOME’, also stars Annu Kapoor, Supriya Pilgaonkar, and Amol Parashar. This is one show that is sure to resonate with every middle class Indian who dreams to have a house of their own. The 12 episode show will be streaming on the ALTBalaji app and the website from 29 August.
