Emraan Hashmi has taken the social media by storm as he unveiled the first movie poster of his debut home production; Cheat India. He has signed an agreement with T-series and Ellipsis Entertainment a day before his birthday, which also marks the debut of Hashmi’s home production company with film producer Atul Kasbekar who has produced highly successful movies such as Neerja (2016), Hindi Medium (2017) and Tumhari Sulu (2017).

Coming to the newly-released teaser poster, it gives us an idea of what the audience should expect out of the movie – attracting immediate interest with the tagline ‘Nakal Mein Hi Akal Hai’. Director Soumik Sen reveals that Cheat India is a drama that explores the malpractices followed in the Indian education system, which remains one of the most talked about topics in our country. Emraan Hashmi will be playing the lead role, opposite Bollywood debutante Shreya Dhanwanthary. Dhanwanthary has previously acted in the Telugu movie Sneha Geetham, and in the TV series, Ladies Room and The Reunion.

The poster as revealed shows us the scene of a typical admission procedure, with a table strewn with admit cards and photographs of various students. What quickly brings a twist to the poster is the suitcase filled with money, which slyly hints at corruption or bribery. The name of the movie has an open book symbol, which points to education. Not to forget the tagline, which automatically points towards some kind of dirty business whatsoever.

As per reports, have revealed that the team will be going for a 35-day shooting schedule, during which they will visit different colleges and university campuses in Lucknow that have been booked for the shoot. Bhushan Kumar and Tanuj Garg will be producing the movie with Hashmi and Kasbekar as well. In a prior interview, Hashmi has said that he is happy to be starting his debut home production with the story that is relevant and volatile and that he is enjoying his first-ever experience in Uttar Pradesh. The movie had been in controversy a few days earlier, as the filmmaker-actor duo Imran Zahid and Dinesh Gautam had claimed that the storyline was plagiarized from their movie, Marksheet. However, it seems clouds have cleared now and Cheat India is slated to hit the theatres on 15 January 2019.
