As you already know, the movies ‘Roma’ and ‘The Favourite’ led race of nominations with 10 each while we anxiously headed into the 91st Academy awards. But surprise, surprise! It was the movie ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in fact, that won the most trophies with four deserving wins.

At the end of the day, 15 movies took away the 24 prestigious awards with ‘The Green Book’ bagging the top prize of Best Picture. But this article is not about ‘Roma’ or ‘The Favourite’ or even ‘The Green Book’. It is about the movie that surprised everyone at the event- ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Bohemian Rhapsody earned the most Oscars overall, with four, including Lead Actor for Rami Malek, Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing (obviously).
Bohemian Rhapsody is an action-packed and emotionally-moving celebration of Queen, their music, and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. The movie shows the journey of this phenomenal musician as he defies all stereotypes, rebels against his conventional Parsi Family, and fights against the society that couldn’t accept him for what he is, to become one of history’s most beloved entertainers. The movie beautifully captures Queen’s dramatic rise, their revolutionary sound, and their reunion.

Rami Malek, while accepting his Oscar for Actor in a Leading Role, said, “We made a film about a gay man, an immigrant who lived his life just unapologetically himself, and the fact that I’m celebrating him and this story with you tonight is proof that we’re longing for stories like this.”
But then on the other hand, the movie has also come under fire for how it treated Mercury’s sexuality. Many amongst the general public are in utter disbelief that the movie won 4 Oscars. Several social media posts are publicly calling out the movie for winning awards it did not deserve.
TV writer Chase Mitchell wrote: “Bohemian Rhapsody literally just got an Academy Award for sound editing for putting Queen Songs in a Queen movie.”
The Green Book, Roma, and Black Panther earned 3 Oscars each to win the second highest number of trophies in the 91st Academy awards.

The fans are particularly ecstatic to see a superhero film win Oscars for the first time ever! Black Panther lived up to our expectations at the Oscars as well.
