Almost fifteen years ago, Karan Johar and his father Yash Johar dreamt of brining this historical story out on the big screen and today it’s finally come alive! The makers of Kalank released the trailer of this much awaited film today. The trailer was hosted by Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt as Karan Johar is away to unveil his was statue! Director Abhishej Varman was also missing from the big launch.
The film is an epic drama with an equally epic cast! Kalank’ s ensemble cast includes Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur. The film will be directed by director Abhishek Varman who earlier directed Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in 2 States. Kalank is set in the 1940s.
The story of Kalank has been written by Shibani Bathija. Earlier Karan had said that Kalank has been an emotional journey for him. He said, “A germ of an idea that I had nearly 15 years ago a film that was in a pre-production stage helmed by my father, am now proud to pass it on to the extremely capable and visionary hands of our director Abhishek Varman!”
The trailer of Kalank is stunning! The film like we’ve said earlier too is spectacular! Everything about the film looks perfect too. It’s the kind of trailer you would want to watch on repeat mode.
The launch was unlike others where the actors hosted it themselves and were thoroughly enjoying it. Siddhartha Roy Kapoor arrived a but late said that he had a wardrobe malfunction!
This is the first time Sonakshi and Siddharth Roy Kapoor will be sharing screen space. Varun and Alia, have earlier acted together in Karan’s Student of The Year 2 beside their other films such as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. While Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit will be seen together after a gap of almost 25 years!
Most of the film has been shot in a humongous set that was constructed in one of the studios in Mumbai.Everything from the costumes, make up, sets, lighting etc. looks spectacular! Each and every one of the seem to have delved right into their characters.
Directed by Abhishek Varman, of 2 States fame, Kalank is jointly produced by Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Kalank releases on 19 April, 2019.
