Love Yatri Movie Review: It’s Garba All The Way, A Navratri Film For Sure!

Looks like Aayush Sharma will dance his way to stardom

His life changes forever one Navratri when a beautiful Gujarati NRI girl, Michelle aka Manisha (Warina Hussain) comes to India from the UK with her father(Ronit Roy) to fulfil her mother’s wish. It’s love at first sight for him, Susu falls head over heels in love with Michelle. When Michelle returns to London, Susu is heartbroken and wants to be with her. That’s when Susu’s mama (Ram Kapoor), who is more like a friend and love guru to Susu besides being a full-time garment salesman and a seasonal singer, comes to his rescue. Love Yatri is a simple sweet love story, the kinds you would read in those Mills n Boons. The garba nights along with foot tapping music are the highlight of the film. The story is old-fashioned a typical boy meets girl, they fall in love and then there’s a villian who plays spoilsport. It’s like old wine packaged in a new bottle but love and love stories actually never go out of fashion. Who wouldn’t like those mushy love stories to break the monotony in life sometimes?

Director Abhiraj Minawala’s Loveyatri has elaborate and colourful and richly decorated sets, and vibrant costumes by Alvira Agnihotri, Manish Malhotra and Ashley Rebello, along with a whole lot of dancing especially garba choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant, and foot-tapping music by Tanishk Bagchi. The film sets the mood for the upcoming festivities. The songs are sure going to be a hit at every garba do this Navratri.

Aayush Sharma is a great dancer and he proves it with Love Yatri

Aayush Sharma proves himself as a dancer, he must have been lying when he told us that he had two left feet and was a terrible dancer during the interview. However, he still has a long way to go as far as acting is concerned but then that’s what everyone felt about Salman Khan in his very first film as a hero in Maine Pyaar Kiya and look where he has reached today! It also takes a whole lot of courage for someone from a totally non-filmy background to go out and do something out of his comfort zone. For a first time actor, Aayush has given his best and he is quite impressive in certain scenes.

Warina Hussain looks gorgeous in Love Yatri

Warina Hussain with her gorgeous looks and those big-big pretty eyes is pretty impressive too. Ronit Roy as Warina’s father looks dapper though I thought he could have avoided doing those garba steps in the end. The lovable Ram Kapoor as Ayush’s mama is as lovable in the film and a mama probably every bhanja would love to have. Pratik Gandhi and Sajeel Parekh, the actors who play Ayush’s friends Negative and Rocket are relatable and real.

Love Yatri may not be a great film but it’s a film one can go and enjoy with the whole family. A film that’s perfect for the season.
