Zee Studios has finally released the trailer of the much awaited period-drama Manikarnika — The Queen of Jhansi, starring Kangana Ranaut! Manikarnika has been wrapped in controversy ever since it was announced. Kangana had to step into the director Krish Jagarlamudi shoes when he abandoned the project midway.

The trouble didn’t end there for Kangana. Actor Sonu Sood, who was playing a Maratha army commander-in-chief Sadashivrao Bhau in the film quit the project, saying he could not work under an incompetent director. Then the film’s producer, Zee Studios’ business head Sujay Kutty, was sacked for agreeing to hike the film’s budget from Rs 60 crore to Rs 125 crore. Actor Swati Semwal, who was to play Sadashivrao’s wife Parvati in the film, also quit the project, saying her role in the epic drama was no longer as important as it was when she came on board!

BUT the film has finally taken shape and how! in spite of all the troubles and controversies, the trailer of the film had a grand launch.Hours before the launch of the trailer, the makers also released another poster of the film.

Kangana, as Rani Lakshmibai, looks absolutely stunning and her look as the brave queen is sure to make all heads turn.The film looks grand with grand palaces, beautiful period costumes.The trailer of Manikarnika has traces of the grand sets and grandeur similar to that of the historical dramas of Sanjay Bhansali films. One shot in the trailer where Kangana uses a bow and arrow to kill a tiger reminds us of the character from the Disney movie Brave. Kangana looks beautiful and fierce at the same time. The film has been shot extremely well and looks like it’s going to be visual treat.

Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, the film has Amitabh Bachchan’s voice narrate the story. Manikarnika is written by KV Vijayendra Prasad and also stars Ankita Lokhande, Zeeshan Ayyub and Jisshu Sengupta in key roles. The film is expected to hit theaters on 25 January 2019.
