Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi Movie Review: Fun Confusion And Chaos That Leaves You Laughing Out Loud!

Jimmy Shergill is at his best yet again !

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi set against the backdrop of mistaken identities and set in China is full of the fun kind of chaos and confusion which leaves you happy and laughing long after you have walked out of the theater. There is not one but two Happys in the film and they are the reason for all the confusion in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi!

The new Happy (Sonakshi Sinha) arrives in Shanghai to visit a Horticulture university and the original Happy (Diana Penty) along with husband Guddu (Ali Fazal) also lands up in China at the same time. Gangsters who’ve come to kidnap Happy and her husband, Guddu pick up the new Happy, while the original Happy and her husband Guddu are escorted to the university to deliver a lecture! ( Confused aren’t you? Well, that’s the fun part about this film)

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is a sequel to the much-loved hit of 2016 Happy Bhag Jayegi. While Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi features the cast from the first film; Jimmy Sheirgill, Piyush Mishra, Diana Penty and Ali Fazal in the lead roles, it also marks the entry of Sonakshi Sinha and Punjabi singer Jassie Gill. This is also Jassie’s Bollywood debut.

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is out and out fun! It starts off from where the first film ended. It’s witty with equally witty and funny one-liners on witty and funny one-liners. The film is a comedy of errors where one Happy (Sonakshi Sinha) is kidnapped instead of the actual Happy (Diana Penty) that the kidnappers wanted to kidnap! Daman Singh Bagga (Jimmy Sheirgill) and Usman Afridi (Piyush Mishra) too are kidnapped and transported to China. While Khushi(Jassie Gill) gets dragged into all the confusion and chaos.

Even though we know what will happen next in the film, the film does not get boring or monotonous at all, as there is confusion after confusion which makes you laugh out loud! Without wasting any time, the first half of the movie introduces most of the characters including Sonakshi, Diana, Jimmy, Ali, Jassie, Denzil Smith, Aparshakti Khurrana, Piyush Mishra, Bijou Thaangjam and Jason Tham.Just when we think the confusion is becoming clearer in the first half there is a twist in the interval and the second half leads to even more confusion!

While all the actors have played their parts well, it’s Jimmy Shergill who takes the cake! Right from his expressions to his dialogue delivery, body language, are a real treat to watch! Sadly in this one too he’s still unlucky in love and he keeps reminding everyone that he was almost close to settling down when he was kidnapped! His pet dialogue; “Main toh ghodi chad gaya tha…” makes you laugh every time he says it. Another fun scene was where Jimmy is dressed in a Superman costume and is on the stage singing when he suddenly breaks into a Bollywood number; “Yaara O Yaara!” The entire scene is hilarious.

Confusion and chaos adds to the humor in Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi

Sonakshi Sinha’s comic timing could have been better. She however plays and looks the part as the feisty Punjabi kudi Happy, very well. A special mention to actors Denzil Smith and Jason Tham, who play the Chinese characters.Denzil plays Adnan Chau,Jason is Chan. Piyush Mishra too is a delight to watch. Jessie Gill is impressive and one of my favorite Jessi Gill scenes is the part where he thinks he has killed Chan and goes into a trance and starts behaving like Bhagat Singh!

All the scenes and gags have been well written and director Mudassar Aziz has done a fine job by balancing the humour and sentiments in the film. Even though there are some typical Bollywood dialogues, they really don’t seem over the top because of the way it has been treated.

Happy Phirr Se Bhag Jayegi is a film that will make your heart happy and make you walk out of the theater smiling. Go watch the film this weekend and have a Happy Happy weekend!
