Mission Impossible – Fallout Movie Review: Best Mission Ever!

What is worth noting in this film is the emotional side to Ethan Hunt

After watching a disastrous movie late last night, watching Mission Impossible – Fallout  absolutely made up for it! Watching Tom Cruise in a movie is pleasant enough but there is so much more to look forward to in Mission Impossible – Fallout Begins. The film has more drama, brilliant storytelling and some adrenaline-pumping sequences to keep you glued!

To put the story in simpler words, Mission Impossible – Fallout is about Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his IMF team along with a few allies getting ready to save the world from deadly nuclear explosions. Ethan and his trusted team, Luther (Ving) and Benji (Simon), need to get their hands on the plutonium that can cause destruction at the hands of Solomon Lane (Sean Harris).

Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt looks as good as he always did!

We’ve seen the absolutely good looking Ethan Hunt do his jaw-dropping stunts like dangle from the cliff or be a part of high-speed chases in all the earlier instalments of the franchise, but in spite of that, the film still manages to add that thrill and the thrill only goes a notch higher. So much so that you are at times left biting your nails and clutching your handbag tighter!

Unlike other sequels where we always end up being dissatisfied with them and compare them to the first, with Mission Impossible the films have only gotten better since the first one with each one surpassing the last. Mission: Impossible – Fallout is not just all about great action sequences or just another stunt-driven film and jumping from one action scene to another. The film is also perhaps the first film in the series that feels very much like a direct sequel to its immediate predecessor – 2015’s Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.

Mission Impossible – Fallout Begins is one of the best missions

Mission: Impossible – Fallout has been brilliantly shot in some of the most beautiful locations of Paris, London, and our very own Kashmir! That’s not all, the plot of the film is also one that every Indian will relate to.

The scenes and the action sequences have been executed exceptionally well. My favourite is the sequence in Paris and of course, the magnificent finale shot at the Nubra Valley in our very own Ladakh. The action sequences are incredible; from fisticuffs in the bathroom of a club in Belfast, shoot-outs on the streets to running full-speed and jumping buildings in London, helicopter chases and escaping through the underground tunnels in speedboats in France, the film keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Tom Cruise at 56 can put all of us to shame! One can sense the kind of dedication and hard work he has put into the film. It’s difficult to believe that he has been doing the same thing for the last 22 years! He makes it all look so fresh and there is not a moment in the film that you would want to take your eyes off him. What is worth noting in this film is the emotional side to Ethan Hunt, like when he lets off his wife or when he helps an injured policewoman. He not only makes his character look relatable but he gives his all to the character. From rushing headlong into walls, hanging on cliffs, jumping from one tall building to another, he actually convinces the audience that he is the man who can save the world if at all our world is in danger in real life too! He is a man on a mission and how! This is his best mission so far.

Tom’s co-stars Simon Pegg as the technology wizard Benji , Ving Rhames as the Bomb expert Luther, Henry Cavill as Walker the CIA agent, Rebecca Fergusson as Ilsa Faust a former MI6 agent , Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow and Michelle Monaghan as Ethan’s wife Julia Meade-Hunt make a great supporting cast and have all played their parts well.

A special mention to the brilliant cinematography by Cinematographer Rob Hardy, stunts by Stunt Director Wade Eastwood, the crisp editing by Editor Eddie Hamilton and brilliant background score by Lorne Balfe. A huge round of applause to the man behind it all; director Christopher McQuarrie!

A brilliant script that never leaves you feeling exhausted in spite of all the heart-pounding action, superb performances, brilliant execution and a great teamwork. Mission Impossible – Fallout Begins is definitely one of the best instalments in the series.

Make sure you join Tom Cruise on the mission this weekend!
