Ralph Breaks The Internet Movie Review: Adorable And Fun Watch For All Age Groups

It's an insight into our own life online

Ralph Breaks The Internet is the sequel to Wreck-It Ralph, Disney’s video-game adventure film that released in 2012. Ralph Breaks The Internet tells the story of two best friends; Ralph ( John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman).

Ralph is a star all in his game at an old gaming arcade but when his best friend Vanellope wants some change in her Sugar Rush game, Ralph goes into her game to change the course but sadly the game’s external controls break. The Sugar Rush game gets unplugged and Vanellope and all her game-mates become homeless. So Vanellope and Ralph plan to go online to find a replacement for the controller. Once they go online, is when the real adventure begins, they find ways to earn money to buy the replacement, Ralph even tries his hand creating viral videos to earn money but that’s not all that take place online.

Ralph Breaks The Internet is not just a story about friendship and strong friendship bonds but also gives us insight into our own life online

Ralph Breaks The Internet is not just a story about friendship and strong friendship bonds but also gives kids and adults alike an insight into our own life online and how addicted we are to it. It has hints of all that we see online from Google,eBay Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and even BuzzTube which is a reference to Youtube and the obsession of viral videos! In short, the film tells the audience how the internet can be both useful and also not too good at the same time, depending on how we use it.

The film is delightful and I especially loved the first scene where Ralph and Vanellope find themselves online but my favorite was the scene when Vanellope meets all the Disney princesses. Love the way the princesses finally get out of their gowns and relax in pajamas! The conversation between them is hilarious. They talk about what it means to be a princess, about how princesses are always saved by big strong men and how most of them don’t have a parent or are cursed. It’s a sequence that is layered in a humorous way. The scene where the princesses save Ralph and he ends up in Snow White’s costume will make you laugh out loud! It’s kind of a fun satire, that’s been executed very well. There are many such references in the film that are subtle but hit the point. Love the eBoy who keeps popping up with eBay reminders too!

The film also shows the audience the bleaker side of the internet, there’s a hint of trolls and nasty comments with a scene where Ralph comes across a bunch of comments making fun of him. It portrays the darker side of the internet. It also has a great message about how friendships can become toxic if we get too clingy and even best friends may have to take different paths sometimes. While the internet can be an interesting place, it also shows us how vulnerable we can be online when we expose ourselves to the world.

It’s a film that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults alike. Go watch Ralph Breaks The Internet at a theater near you this weekend.
