For all those who had been following the first season of Sacred Games, the season ended with a cliffhanger. But the fans have reason to celebrate because the makers have made an official announcement the series will return for a second season!
The makers have said that the second season will have Sartaj Singh (Saif Ali Khan) trying to save his city, while Ganesh Gaitonde’s (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) track will have him trying to retain his position as the don of Mumbai while he faces bigger challenges. Ganesh’s first two fathers were shown in the first season, while Pankaj Tripathi who plays his third father was introduced but the audience didn’t get to see much of him and know him. The second season will have him play a pivotal role.
The thriller series, based on author Vikram Chandra’s novel of the same name, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Saif Ali Khan in the lead and directed by Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane will be shot in India and various international locations as well.
For the second season too Anurag will continue to direct the story of Gaitonde, but Vikramaditya who shot the Sartaj Singh plot will handover the responsibility to director Neeraj Ghaywan. Varun Grover and Vikramaditya will run the show.
Sacred Games is the first of eight Indian series that Netflix has commissioned. The show received positive reviews from critics, mainly for the performance of its lead actor.
