The trailer has glimpses from his childhood to his youth, his struggle to become the top hockey player and how he is left paralyzed after a shootout. The trailer itself is very inspiring. Diljit Dosanjh looks every bit the part and even Sandeep Singh could not agree more. Speaking at the event to launch the trailer Sandeep said, “Nobody else but Diljit paaji could have played my character better. He is a fabulous actor and one does not need to explain things to him more than once. He just copy pastes it from there!”

The trailer showcases Sandeep’s life and mostly his persona, his determination, and his struggles. It also takes us through the journey of India’s campaign in the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup, which they won under Sandeep captaincy. The trailer begins on a happy note with a Sandeep as a mischievous little boy who does not like his coach and then as a young man trying to impress a girl and then moves on to how he becomes a hockey player and wins the medal for India and the accident changes his life.

The amount of hard work that the actors and the makers have put into the film is visible in the trailer. Angad Bedi who also stars in the film plays Sandeep’s older brother Vikramjit Singh. Chitrangada Singh who is one of the producers of the film said that she was thankful that she got to hear the story first and she is happy to be producing it because stories like this need to be told.

Soorma is directed by Shaad Ali and also stars Taapsee Pannu and slated to hit the theaters on 13th July.
