All about section 377 was a hugely popular series and now director Amit Khanna has come out with its sequel; Still About Section 377 at the right time since the LGBT or the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in India finally got a verdict in their favour. The Supreme Court has finally decriminalized consensual gay sex. The web series has been written and directed by Amit and is a story of an urban gay couple that lands up in a village in order to convince one of the partner’s family to accept their relationship. Amit is also one of the lead actors in the film.
It’s all about how such things are not spoken openly about in the small towns and villages where people still believe in the fraud babas and tantriks.The series also talks about the acceptance of transgenders in society. Still about section 377 has a strong transgender track and this would be the first time a web-series would highlight the struggles faced by the Hijara community in a rural set-up.
Amit has not only directed the series well but like in the first series, he has also given a brilliant performance as a gay in the series. That’s not all, for all those who are not aware, Amit is also an avid Fashion photographer and the sole holder of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke excellence award in the field of fashion photography.
While Amit is brilliant as an actor, the other actors; Ankit Bhatia, Gunjan Malhotra, Gaurav Mishra, Gulshan Nain, Gunjan Malhotra etc. too need a special mention as all of them have played their parts very well. Gunjan looks perfect as a small town girl. The characters are interesting like super cool dadi who smokes up a joint, watches porn and eats mutton secretly to a eunuch who writes some brilliant poetry and the ever faithful chotu we find in households.
This web series is going to change a lot of myths and prejudices people have about LGBTQ. Still About Section 377 has been produced by – Philum Makers and The dancing Shiva and will be presented by SP cinecorp and Asmiy Entertainment.
