India has seen several incidents recently that moved everyone from the core and made us re-evaluate our entire existences. While biopics are taking Bollywood by storm, some of the recent events might as well be Blockbuster movies, if provided with the right production team. The truth behind several cases often get snubbed by bribery and power. However, films can be the perfect medium to make people aware of the actual truth, as they can always be disguised as a piece fiction, while the viewers get to know the real incident as well. So, some of the incidents, which require a movie on them to act as an eye-opener are:

The Kathua Rape Case

The entire world united in the fight for Asifa’s justice

Brutality would be an understatement to define the Kathua-rape case. The entire world mourned for the 14-year old Kashmiri girl who was raped in a ‘mandir’. What is even more shocking is that she was raped and murdered because of the tension between Hindus and Muslims since generations. The lawyer who is still fighting for the victim is a lady who has promised to bring justice to her parents. Well, a movie on this could bring out the gut-wrenching negativity which prevails and maybe with an aim for a change in human brutality to kindness.

The Shashi Tharoor – Sunanda Pushkar Case

Recent updates suggest that the Police has accused Shashi Tharoor to be the actual man behind Sunanda Pushkar’s death. While this news is brand new, this case seems never-ending and has been going on since ages. We could have a movie on the incident to make the air clearer for common man on the incident.

The Padmaavat Riot

The social unrest and drama before the movie’s release could make a great movie plot

The very famous riot which occurred due to Karni Sena’s incessant and blatant threats to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actor Deepika Padukone for the movie Padmaavat made the entire nation shake to the core. What we witnessed were political riots, suicides, sacrifice of innocent lives and murder threats to Deepika. The so-called ‘Rajputs’ finally took a step back when the name of the movie, which was originally ‘Padmavati’ was changed to ‘Padmaavat’ and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Ghoomar’ dance didn’t show any part of her waist!

A movie on this would be a must, in order to showcase some nasty rivalries that go on within the film industry, the judgement of the censor board, the nonsensical demands of fanatic religious groups and so much more.

Gauri Lankesh Murder Case

The famous journalist, Gauri Lankesh, who fearlessly covered every event of our country, was found dead at her Bangalore residence in late 2017. People who loved bold journalism received quite a shock with her death. Although there have been reports of the murderers being arrested, we could perhaps have a clearer idea about the mastermind who plotted her murder through a movie on this.

We have already seen movies like Talvar, No One Killed Jessica, Drishyam and Madaari, inspired by real-life incidents made with an aim to point out the real truth with the help of mass media and perhaps bring about a change in our society and the proceedings. A change can, however, be possible only if filmmakers dare to take up projects like these fr the greater benifit of the mass.
