The team of the historical sports-drama movie ‘Gold’ have released their second track. “Chad Gayi Hai” is a fun and lively song that perfectly describes our desi hero who gets intoxicated at a formal gathering of the Indian Hockey Federation (1948) and ‘drink dances’ at the venue, much to the shock and embarrassment of the female protagonist. None of us are new to ‘drunk-dancing’ songs, and Akshay Kumar’s number is just one more added to the list.
The song has been sung by Vishal Dadlani and the musical duo Sachin-Jigar. The lyrics have been composed by VAYU, and the music has been composed by Sachin-Jigar. The mixing and mastering of the song has been done by Michael Edwin Pillai, and the video has been choreographed by Bosco-Caesar. NavRomil Ved, Hrishikesh Gangan and Julian Mascarenhas are part of the technical team.
The music video begins with our hero Akshay Kumar’s drink being spiked with a suspicious-looking powder that cause him to become completely inebriated and starts dancing and making a mess of himself. Being a sports-based movie, the culprits are a group of well-dressed men, clearly playing the part in a big conspiracy. Akshay Kumar aces the role of a drunk Tapan Das, and carries off the dhoti quite well. Mouni Roy is the leading lady in the movie, as Tapan Kumar’s wife. She tries to calm him down with the help of Tapan’s teammates, but in vain and finally leaves at the end of the video.
As expected, the lyrics of the song are all about getting drunk, including all the steps in the process – from the first peg, to drunk-dancing and then a total loss of control and consciousness. The strong note of percussions and woodwinds performed by a variety of artists have lent the much-needed punch to the song, which can make anyone jump up and start dancing to the song. The energy of the song “Chad Gayi Hai” reminds one of Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s “Maston ka Jhund” from ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ (2013).
Like so many other ‘drunk-dancing’ songs, Akshay Kumar’s “Chad Gayi Hai” will be a new favourite that could surpass Yo Yo Honey Singh’s “Chaar Bottle Vodka” due to its desi angle. So, if you want something to complement your ‘desi daaru’, “Chad Gayi Hai” is your jam.
