Emraan Hashmi’s Cheat India is preparing for a January 25 release, yet its makers have already started releasing its music online. The second song from the film’s soundtrack has now been launched on YouTube via the T-Series channel. Called Dil Mein Ho Tum, it’s a soft love ballad sung by Armaan Malik and composed by Bappi Lahiri and Rochak Kohli. The first song from the album has a peppy Guru Randhawa number titled Daaru Wargi.

Dil Mein Ho Tum is your typical Emraan Hashmi song, in the sense of its overall feel. It’s characterised by a familiar singing style that’s a commonplace in songs from the movies he stars in. The song in a way hampers the evolution of Bollywood music, as it sounds much like something that would have felt right in place back in the 2000s. We wonder if Cheat India too will follow the same pattern.

Bappi Lahiri and Rochak Kohli are definitely better than this, but Dil Mein Ho Tum has ended up being extremely generic. For someone who hasn’t heard all the other songs it sounds like, it’s very likely to click. It’s not a bad song per se, but it has an air to it that makes you think that not much effort has gone into composing it. Armaan Malik’s vocals do what they can to pick the song up. And the lyrics by Manoj Muntashir and Farooq Qaiser aren’t extraordinary.

Cheat India is a film that touches upon the topic of the malpractices in India’s education system. It has been directed by Soumik Sen, who is known for having directed Gulaab Gang. It stars Emraan Hashmi and Shreya Dhanwanthary in lead roles. The soundtrack for this movie is a large one, with songs from Krsna Solo, Kunaal-Rangon, Agnee and Soumik Sen still waiting for their turn to release.

Like we said, January 25 is when Cheat India will be released across theatres in India.
