Fresh off the success of her song Leja Re, Dhvani Bhanushali has launched yet another music video via T-Series, called Main Teri Hoon. This new track has been composed by Sachin-Jigar, while Priya Saraiya, who is a frequent collaborator of the music director pair, has penned its lyrics. But it’s the music video, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru that will grab your attention the most, and unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons.

Main Teri Hoon starts off with a phone conversation that Dhvani has with someone who tells her that no one will listen to her song because she doesn’t have many social media followers. This prompts her to up her influencer game, even as she starts wearing fancy clothes and posting photographs with cringy hashtags to earn a social media following. And she finally earns enough online clout for her song to become a hit.

As if this wasn’t juvenile enough, there is even a sequence in the middle of the song in which she is seen vlogging with her phone, boasting about a “Michael Jackson-inspired” jacket that she’ll be wearing for her concert. So in the end, the point that this video is trying to make is that you cannot become a successful singer if you don’t have enough social media followers.

As a song, Main Teri Hoon sounds pretty much like a garba number. Speed up its tempo, and it can be one more addition to the songs that are played during the Navratri season. Although Dhvani Bhanushali has sung this song, her singing is hard to gauge over the thick layers of auto-tune at use. One would have expected more finesse from a Sachin-Jigar number, but that’s not the case.

Main Teri Hoon is yet another humdrum T-Series song that will get lost among the others. The company does boast of 84 million subscribers at the moment, but somehow, the views its videos are getting are pretty low in correspondence to that. This song was not even able to cross the half million mark in 24 hours.
