East India Company's Awesome Songs You Cannot Miss

East India Comedy, or EIC as it’s fondly referred to, is one of the finest comedy groups in India. Comprising the likes of Sorabh Pant, Sapan Verma, Sahil Shah, Azeem Banatwalla, Atul Khatri and a number of other members, this troupe of funny intellectuals takes on nationally and internationally relevant topics every now and then, through its performances. Their trademark songs are one of the many methods of generating satirical humour. Let’s take a look at the best songs they have given us to date.

The Aadhaar Song

The latest song from EIC takes the tune and beats from DJ Wale Babu and attaches the lyrics, ‘Desi wale babu zara Aadhaar bana lo, bank wale babu se bhi link kara do, phone wale babu se bhi number mila do.” The song tackles the hassles being faced by people due to the government’s obsession with Aadhaar linking and the tons of SMS reminders being sent to them for the same, on a daily basis.

The Arnab Song

This one is sung to the tune of Titanic’s Every Night I See You with the words, “Every night on my screen, I see you, I hear you. Even though my TV’s on mute.” This hilarity is taken even further with the lyrics that follow. This video was released when Arnab had quit Times Now, and was still to launch his new channel.

The Modi Song

In The Modi Song, EIC starts off by taking a dig at Modi’s extensive visits to other countries. They even compare the jodi of Modi and Amit Shah with that of Munnabhai and Circuit. The second half of the song however, is entirely dedicated to the disastrous effects of demonetization, and this is where the song will kill you with its hilarity. In this track, the comedy group has used the tune of Alisha Chinai’s Made in India.

The Goa Song

At last here’s one song that’s not about any particular person. But it is indeed about a large number of people like you and me who do quintessentially cheap and predictable things on their Goa visits. Unlike their other songs, this one has been shot on location in Goa, and has used the song Dil Chahta Hai as its base.

The Trump Song

The Trump song pokes fun at Donald Trump’s downright racist national policies as well as the various issues being faced by USA like gun control and Trump’s alleged links with Russia. This funny number takes the famous song YMCA by Village People as its base.
