Climbing up the charts at a speedy pace right now is the duet version of Ed Sheeran’s Perfect which features none other than Beyonce. While the original song was released earlier this year as part of the Divide album, this single is an acoustic take on it.
While Sheeran’s voice does the same wondrous magic that it always does, Beyonce employ’s her trademark deep vocals which end up adding a lot of mystic brilliance to the whole affair. The use of an acoustic guitar as the only major instrument adds a Christmassy touch to the song.
There’s quite an interesting story behind this actually. Ed Sheeran has said before that the original Perfect was supposed to be an all-acoustic track, but things didn’t pan out that way due to some reasons. However, when the time came for a duet with Beyonce, she suggested that it should be an acoustic track, to which Ed happily replied that it was supposed to be just that.
Perfect is a romantic ballad which refers to Sheeran’s girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, whom he knew from school and reconnected with when she was working in New York. Beyonce is heard singing the second verse of the song which has been reworked to fit the female perspective.
The Perfect Duet, as this song is being referred to, is jumping rapidly towards number one spots on billboards all across the world. The two coming together for a song is really something, since both are huge names in the business today.
