Firangi Music Review

Is it as good as the trailer?

Firangi Music Review

Firangi is a much-anticipated film not just because it has Kapil Sharma in it, but also for the fact that he will be seen acting as a real character for the first time. The last film he did had Kapil being himself with his trademark insult humor that didn’t bring anything fresh to the table. No wonder the film bombed at the box office.

But Firangi is different. He has willingly gone for a role that requires effort to play. The trailer has raised our expectations, but we’ll have to wait until December 1 for it to release. In anticipation, why not take a look at its music album that’s out now.

The music for the film has been composed by Jatinder Shah, and has an impressive line-up of singers contributing to it. Oye Firangi, which is the first song from the album has been rendered by none other than Sunidhi Chauhan. This one’s a feel good number backed up by acoustic instruments, including a harmonica which adds a lot of flavour to it. The chorus is catchy, and will most probably be on the lips of people coming out of the theatre.

Sajna Sohne Jiha is a romantic song, with lyrics to justify it. Jyoti Nooran’s vocal performance is the highlight of this one, but there’s nothing extraordinary about the song as a whole. Same goes for Sahiba Russ Gayiya which has been sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. It’s a piece of cake for him to sing this one, and since there’s no challenge at hand, we don’t quite get to see the trademark Rahat magic in this one.

Tu Jit Jawan is a track sung by Daler Mehndi, and it’s inevitably one of the best songs in the album. It’s an inspirational number with a backdrop of traditional folk instruments. Daler Mehndi’s voice suits perfectly for it, and he ends up owning the song, especially during the chorus parts.

Gulbadan sounds like a classic mujra song, and credit is really due to the music composer for this. It’s a refined track which goes really good on the ears. The final song from the Firangi album is another version of Sahiba Russ Gayiya. This one has been sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali. His mature voice blends perfectly with the music, resulting in another great song.

Firangi’s album is quite impressive, to say the least. It now remains to be seen whether the same can be said about the film as well.
