Lata Mangeshkar is one of our crown jewels, and no amount of gratification is enough for what she has given the audiences throughout her extremely long career. Apart from pleasing anyone and everyone who has ever listened to her songs, she has also inspired a large number of singers with her voice. This is probably what urges most of them to pay their own tributes to her by singing cover versions of some of her most famous songs. Here’s a list of 5 such reprised songs of Lata Mangeshkar that’ll end up impressing you.

Lag Jaa Gale By Sanam

Sanam’s acoustic take on the haunting melody from 1964’s Woh Kaun Thi? is just plain beautiful. The band has managed to keep the flavour of the original song alive, while adding their own little vocal twist to it. Composed by Madan Mohan and written by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan, Lag Jaa Gale still remains one of the most revered songs sung by the Nightingale.

Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai By IMX Unplugged

The violin-induced melodies of Ek Pyar Ka Nagma Hai bring tears to the eyes of many; such is the power of this Lata Mangeshkar rendition. The IMX Unplugged project had released a cover of this track a few years ago, that has grabbed over 15 million YouTube views till date. Sung by Rajdeep Chatterjee, this reprised version adds a lot of energy to the track. But at the same time, it retains the underlying sadness that forms its backbone.

Woh Chali Woh Chali By Bombay Vikings

Singer Neeraj Shridhar was part of a pop group called Bombay Vikings, back in 1990s. Their song Who Chali was a reprised version of Lata Mangeshkar’s famous Main Chali from the 1968 film Padosan. This track was accompanied English rap portions that blended beautifully with the rest of the song. Who Chali was liked by Lata Mangeshkar herself, who had apparently invited Neeraj to sing during her birthday celebrations.

Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh – Shaan

Ajeen Dastan Hai Yeh is an evergreen track that Lata had sung for the film Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai, around the 1960s. Shaan recently created a medley by mixing it with Anand’s Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli. The two have blended with each other seamlessly, making for quite an interesting listening experience.

Bahon Mein Chale Aao – Instant Karma And Mahalakshmi Iyer

Instant Karma was a band that was formed in the 1990s by Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa and Farhad Wadia, and Bahon Mein Chale Aao was one of their biggest hits. This track built on the original song and added some very effective musical touches to it.
